TL-10900 The ability to define course completion using logical and/or criteria upon activities

At present its only possible to have a straight selection of activities in the course completion settings, having the ability to have logical combinations would be an improvement.

So the actives A,B,C & D could produce the course completion settings (A+B) +(D or C) for example.

We would also like to see a change in this actual functionality of course completion. Most of our customers use activity completion as the main completion method of a course. But then they are struggling with the impossibility to set an advanced combination of activity completion. At the moment it’s only possible to define ALL of ANY selected activities. It would be great if within the activity completion structure the same settings would be possible than within dynamic audiences. Something like this:

 Condition: Activity completion

Completion setting between every completion set:

  • AND (criteria are in every completion set) – in the case AND
  • OR (criteria are in any completion set)

Set 1 (Completion setting between each rule in this completion set: OR)

E-learningmodule - Dutch
E-learningmodule - French
E-learningmodule - German

Set 2 (Completion setting between each rule in this completion set: OR)

Exam – Dutch
Exam - French
Exam - German

Set 3 (Completion setting between each rule in this completion set: AND)

Assignment - Assignment

This enhancement request would especially useful for our international customers who use multilanguage courses (courses with the same activities in different languages versions).

Couldn't you accomplish this using Restricted Access?  Using Dutch as an example:

  • User completes Dutch Module 1
  • Using RA - Dutch Module 2 unlocks after completion of Module 1
  • User completes Dutch Module 2
  • Using RA - assignment unlocks when Dutch Module 1 & 2 are complete (ORFrench 1 & 2 OR German 1 & 2)
  • User completes assignment
  • Assignment set as only course completion criteria -> course is marked complete

Hi,

It would be really useful if we could set course completion with layered completions options so we can use a combination of ANDs and ORs.

Currently we are having to Restrict Access and this can look messy if there are a lot of activities.

Thanks
Steph

Hi George,

We see in the issue tracker that this issue has been updated on the 14th of April 2021.
Could you please tell us what the current status of this issue is?
We still have lots of customers that would benefit of it.

Thank you!

Kind Regards,
Moniek

Hi Moniek,

This hasn't been put forward for development as yet.

As Alex Carrick observed earlier on this thread (Saturday, 11 May 2019, 1:10 AM) you could use Restricted Access to achieve the same thing:

  • User completes Dutch Module 1
  • Using RA - Dutch Module 2 unlocks after completion of Module 1
  • User completes Dutch Module 2
  • Using RA - assignment unlocks when Dutch Module 1 & 2 are complete (ORFrench 1 & 2 OR German 1 & 2)
  • User completes assignment
  • Assignment set as only course completion criteria -> course is marked complete

Due to our existing commitments we feel the optimal allocation of developer resources is best served by focusing on our roadmap given existing features already cover some use cases.

regards,

George.
