Suggest Totara Learn features

TL-5217 - Global Search

Welcome to this forum!

Hi everyone,

I know this questions has been asked quite a few times but still ... are there any news about reintroducing the "global search" within Totara?

When do you plan to offer this plugin again?

Are there any similar plugins that can be used instead and which are easy to implement in Totara?
What global search plugins do you recommend for now?

Hopefully you can help me out here!

I looked into this for a client last year but we didn't pursue it because it requires solr on the server

This feature request (tracked under request ID TL-5217) has been deemed medium priority and is not currently planned for development by Totara core.

If you wish to pursue this functionality further your options are

custom development - If you are considering contributing the completed customization back to Totara core, please refer to our guide to contributing code to Totara LMS here and contact Simon Coggins, our Chief Technology Officer.

provide funding for development by Totara core - If you are considering providing funding for development by Totara core, please contact your Totara Channel Partner Manager to discuss further.

Development priorities are reviewed regularly. If you wish to escalate your market need for this functionality, please contact your Totara Channel Partner Manager.

Hi Billy,

The functionality is still being worked in, but I believe it will be going in with a limited capability. My understanding is its still experimental.

I will reactivate this issue. Moodle plans to integrate Global Search with 3.1. in May. The code is ready and in final checks.

Global Search is based on Solr. See https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-53516

This has come up recently for us.

Client who houses all kinds of policies embedded within courses and would like an easy way for users to find different docs within Totara.

Same in my company and this will be really useful for our training team. Without the global search it creates a lot more administrative efforts. Looking forward to this feature!
