Sharing posts in the activity stream

Hi,

Is there a way that I can share a post that appeared in my stream with others on the site?  e.g. if a question has been asked and I think it's relevant to one of my friends, how can I make them aware of it?

I thought that clicking the share link would allow me to choose someone on the site to share it with but it only allows me to share it with external social sites (on a side note this seems really odd.  Why are we advocating that someone uses another social site other than Totara Social?).

So is there a way that I can share it with my friends?

Thanks

David

Hi David,

Right now it is not possible to re-post someone else's items in a way other than sharing a public link (available next to the social networks sharing options). Every item that is posted on Totara Social can have a unique set of permissions attached to it. The case where you can view something doesn't mean that everyone else can too. Is it possible that some item was shared with you only and the author would prefer it to stay that way. Allowing to re-share without original author's permission is not something we would like to add to the system, while public URL is added only when the author agrees that their post can be shared in other places.

I definitely see that we can do a better job of showing more information about the local URLs posted in a status update. I will file an enhancement request for that.
