Does Totara recognize Bootstrap's classes? Is it based on Bootstrap framework?

Thank you

Alessio

Hi Alessio

Totara themes are based off Bootstrap - Learn 9 is based on Bootstrap 2 and Totara 10 is based on Bootstrap 3

More details of the themes used and creating themes is at https://help.totaralearning.com/display/DEV/Themes

Do you foresee Totara always sticking with a 3rd party library like Bootstrap vs going with straight CSS, especially now that they have released CSS Grid for managing responsiveness?

Strictly a curiosity question here as i've just recently learned to use CSS grid and find it to be pretty sweet.. and since it's part of the core css now, it's nice to not have to rely on a 3rd party library.

Hi John,

We're always looking at ways we can improve Totara for themers and our partners. While I can't make any promises, browsers are advancing and when it makes sense for us to move core functionality we will do so.

As always though, we have a range of browsers we support (for Totara 11 this includes IE11) and can't always use the latest features. We also can't remove well used libraries without significant communication to partners (and subscribers).

Regards,
