Hi There

I am having trouble updating user details from a csv file.

One user will update fine then the next will give an error saying "User not added - error" it then shows duplicate email address and authentication plugin not supported. But I believe both these users are set up the same way in the system and I can't figure out why one is being rejected and the other updated.

Hi James

There are some settings when you bulk upload users - prevent email address duplicates is probably set to yes and the email address is used in a current user.

For the authentication plugin not supported for a new user - is the new user on Totara being created from the external authentication

Can you confirm that the username used in the file is the same as an existing user and it doesn't have any special characters in it such as quotes, commas (they should be alphanumeric characters)

regards

Hi Craig,

Prevent duplicates is set to yes but both these users are already in the system with their email addresses the same as those on the CSV file yet one updates and one is flagged as a duplicate.

These users were created when I imported a course with user data. They will then log in via SSO using the associations online authentication. Again same for both users but only one is flagged.

the usernames on the CSV are all email addresses with lower case letters.

Something is amiss. Even a csv that updated yesterday is showing errors today. I'll keep staring at the spreadsheet.

Thanks

James
