Is There a Way to Add Learning Activities to a Seminar Event?

Thanks in advance for any help an experienced user can offer!

We want to have the flexibility for trainers to add Event specific activities to the Event they create for a Seminar activity within a course. I can't figure out how to do that. Here is the scenario -

S-372 Helicopter Management is a standardized course that requires 32 hours of instruction that must meet certain objectives. However, trainers are given flexibility within those parameters. Typically, the course is taught over a 4 day period - 3 days in the classroom and 1 in the field at a helibase.

System Admin created the Course and added a Seminar activity.

Trainer 1 adds an event for May 15-18 to be conducted at a training center and helibase in Boise, ID. Trainer 1 wants to add several pre-work activities and resources including watching an online video (URL); completing an online course at an external site and uploading the certificate of completion (Assignment); and reading an event specific logistics info document (File).

Trainer 2 adds an event for May 22-25 to be conducted at a training center and helibase in Anchorage, AK. Trainer 2 has a different set of pre-work activities that she wants Learners to complete before they attend the Event she created.

Both Trainer 1 and Trainer 2 want to be able to monitor whether users complete the pre-work.

We thought about creating multiple Courses, but that defeats the idea of a Course Catalog in which each Course has only one entry.

Help! :-)

Hi Rick

One suggestion is to have multiple seminar activities in the same course and to restrict access to events based on the completion of other activities. The restrict access is not available for individual events unfortunately. You should use the show activity setting so learners can still see the seminar activity but they won't be able to access this.

Approval of the signup to events can also be limited to specific trainers using event roles. Once the learner has met the requirements then the learner would signup for the event and the relevant event trainer would approve the learner.
