Experience with Totara 11 and Moodle plug-ins

My organization is about to make the jump from Totara 2.7 to Totara 11. Based on some research I have done it looks like the last time Moodle core was updated in Totara was Moodle 3.0 with Totara 9 and from there Totara planned to modify the core to suit their needs. I am looking for concrete information about the functionality of Moodle plugins with Totara 11. I have seen the response from Totara posted several times indicating that Moodle plug-ins were never officially supported but most will probably still work. I want to know how much this still applies to Totara 11.

We are an enterprise organization, so multi-tenancy and hierarchies are essential features for us, but I have seen several plug-ins from Moodle that would benefit us, one example would be the collapsed topics plug-in. If anyone has experience with upgrading their system and how it has affected their organization, as well as their existing Moodle plug-ins or ones they wanted to implement, I would be very appreciative if you would share it.

Hi Max. Most moodle plugins will still work apart from themes. Most moodle themes will not longer render correctly or not work at all depending on the theme.

You will need to use the built in Basis theme.

I appreciate the reply Colin. If you have experience with moving to Totara 11, can you tell me if you think that the added features and functionality along with the aesthetic changes were valuable to your organization? I've looked at the sandbox, read a ton of documentation and tried to get an idea for if this is the right fit for us, but it is difficult to make that determination until the upgrade is already in place. Thanks again!
