Hi

We are currently creating groups that are open to different audiences, is there a way that we can build the group first, and then add the audience once all the assets have been created.

We would also like to use the homepage of a group much like a website landing page. Can you add linkable buttons that direct the user to another page. The work-around we use at the moment is to insert an image and then link (via inserting a text box as it's the only way you don't get the scroll bar appear), but we have to find the URL ourselves, whereas it would be better if there was a button option that would link to the different pages within a group.

What search functionality do we have in groups on social too? It would be a better user experience if the learner could type in key phrases in the forum area to see whether there are already related topics to what they want to ask.

Finally what notification settings are available with the forum posts? If a user creates a forum post we would want notifications turned on that let's someone know once someone has responded.

If anyone already uses groups in a different way, would like to discuss.

Hi Charlie,

  • Generally speaking, you can create the groups and their content and then add the users later. Just to be clear, are you using Totara Connect to pull audiences from a Totara Learn site?
  • There is not a button option, you are correct in adding the image and then linking.
  • There is a tool called elastic search that is installed on the server along with Social. You'll need to check in with your Partner/Server administrator to get that setup.
  • Email notifications for forums can be turned on by default in the forum settings. The user can be set to "watch" a forum to get notifications of replies to a post and they can also choose to watch a forum if the default is not set.

Hope those are helpful!
