appraisal messages and variable substitutions

I am having difficulty with my messaging for appraisals and using variable substitutions. When I use variable substitutions in my appraisal messaging the actual substitution formula shows in the email received by the recipient not the full user name, for example, of the employee assigned to the appraisal. (see below).

Do the variable substitutions not work in Totara 11? I know they were not working in Totara 9 but thought this was addressed in the later releases.

Any direction is appreciated.

Hi Dennette,

Can you share an example of the text you're using on the Messages tab? I'm not seeing a screenshot attached. The variables that are available include:

%userfullname%: This will be replaced by the recipient's full name.
%username%: This will be replaced by the user's username.
%programfullname%: This will be replaced by the program's full name.
%completioncriteria%: This will be replaced by the completion criteria set in the assignment tab.
%duedate%: This will be replaced by the date assigned to the user to complete the program.
%managername%: This will be replaced by the manager's name.
%manageremail%: This will be replaced by the manager's email.
%setlabel%: This will be replaced by the course set label (it will only be replaced if the message relates to a course set.
