Hi all,
I've been working with the data purge functionality that came with Totara 11, and have managed to get automatic purging set up and running nicely. I needed to remove all job allocation information from suspended users, and achieved this in two steps:
1. I created an automatic suspended data purge - this removes job allocation for any user subsequently switched to 'suspended'
2. I used bulk data actions to capture all existing suspended users, and applied the same data purge to them (I'm assuming from this that data purges are triggered by a change of status, and not by the status itself - is this correct?)
What I really don't understand are manual purges; what are these, and how are they meant to be used?
I can set up a manual purge, but there are no options that I can see that will actually run it - it feels like I'm missing a button somewhere. The documentation states that manual purges can be "executed on an ad hoc basis when needed", and it occurred to me that maybe (similar to point 2 above) these are run from bulk user actions - but the only option provided there is to select automatic purge types.
I'm not sure that the documentation explains this at all well - or at least I don't understand it. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Ian
