My organization has begun exploring the forum activity, and I have been looking at the Totara community as a great example of how to implement this correctly. I noticed you have a ratings option on the suggested features forum which allows a user to give a "+1" to a post or reply. I do not see this specific option available in my system. We are on version 11.6. Is this feature available or is it something that needs to be customized?

Hi Max,

You will need to create a new scale on your site to allow you to do this. You can add a new scale on your site by going to /grade/edit/scale/index.php.

In our scale we use '+1' as the only scale item.

Then in the 'Ratings' section of the forum settings, set the aggregate type to 'Sum of ratings' and reference your new scale.

I would love to see similar functionality as an out-of-the-box feature of Totara. Ideally it would be something customizable with different options like upvote/downvote, likes/dislikes, hearts, emoticons, etc.  Allowing users to "like" posts in some way is a great form of interactivity which should increase user engagement as well as the perceived usefulness of the LMS. If there's already a similar feature request, let me know. Otherwise I will make one. Thanks for all your help!
