Hello
For Totara 2.9, can you please outline what happens when a user is suspended? I am particularly after references to their history in individual courses, but all affects of this setting would be appreciated.
Thanks, Simon

Hi Simon,
There's some info here, but basically what happens is the user cannot login and will not receive any notifications/email.
Suspended users keep all their data, enrollments, audience/certification membership etc, the idea being when users are unsuspended they can carry on from where they left off.
The only major thing to be effected is 'data on future seminar bookings will be deleted and cannot be recovered. So please be sure before you suspend the user'.
We used to recommend suspension instead of deletion, but now admins need to be aware of data protection legislation, so a judgment call would have to be made here according to you own organisation's procedures.
Hope this is useful,
George.
Hi George, thanks for the clarification, this is helpful.
When I 'log in as' suspended users, I can still log into the platform and access the users' dashboard and courses. Can you please confirm the users themselves can no longer log in?
Hope you can help,
Andria
Hi Andria,
When you 'login as' you are masquerading, or becoming a user, this allows admins to login as the user without a password.
However when someone tries to login directly as a suspended user they will be denied access and an 'invalid login' message will be displayed.
You can test this yourself by creating a test user and suspending the account - then try a direct login. and also try 'login as'.
cheers,
George.
