New User Notification

Hi all,

I've been trying to figure out a way to create welcome messages for users with instructions on how to access the lms. Currently i'm manually carrying this out but wondered if anyone had found a way to make the system recognise a new user had been created and e-mail with with a message that could be a template that could be amended.

Nothing seems to be in place for this so I've thought about a work around.

So far, I've created a new audience with the dynamic rule that those who start date is in the last 20 days should be included as well as some other key information to identify these persons.

I've looked at turning alerts on in the audience, but apart from the drop down menu that specifies when alerts should be sent, I can't seem to find nor does it say where I can go to amend the alerts. I've considered using a Messaging plugin to help with this but have to attach to a course.

Could this be it? i.e. once colleague is enrolled on this course the message plugin (i've not used much) triggers a e-mail? I've had a look at it and it doesn't seem to have much in the way of flexibility on being used in that way.

Any ideas are welcomed or recommendations of things you have tried and succeeded with.

Kind regards

Rebecca

Hi Rebecca

Some options for you to consider

  • Filtering by the existing audience use bulk user actions to  send a message to users - this is a pretty manual but allows messages to be customised for each group
  • Use HR Import to create users - leave the password field empty and a welcome email will be sent - this is able to be changed with language customisation
  • Enrol the audience members in a course - subscribe all users to announcement forum
  • Enrol the users on a program and change the program enrolment message

Regards
