I have been asked to transfer a paper based assessment process into a Totara Course (using Version 12). 

I have created the majority of the activities/resources but I'm not sure how to create this final assessment part.

The trainer does not want the learner to submit anything but wants the assessment questions set up on the course in a way that he can simply select Yes/No regarding his assessment of them through a one to one interview.

I've had a quick look at using Grading Methods and Competencies but not sure if I am making it more complicated then it needs to be.

I would appreciate any advice on how other forum members have set up this type of thing in courses.

Hi Sue

It is possible to create a marking guide (Rubric) where marking criteria are defined and items are checked 

This may be overkill in your case but does provide an nice interface for assessment - let me know if you think this might be suitable.

Thanks Craig, I've had a look at this and I think it will work.  My only concern is that is looks like it relies on the learner creating an assignment but the assessment is based on a assessment interview with a trainer.  

Would it work if I created the assignment as a type notification from the learner to the trainer that they are ready for their interview?

Hi Sue

An Assignment doesn't have to have a file to be submitted by the learner .Under Submission Types there is an option for Online text where the Learner could respond they are ready for Assessment . This will trigger a notification to the Trainer and they can arrange the interview and use the Rubric to assess the various criteria.

Is there any way to use this method without requiring the learner to submit something? Perhaps along the lines of activity completion up to that point and once the learner completes all the prework and passes, it triggers a task for the instructor? Thank you!
