This week we’ve launched this year’s Totara Learn feedback survey to learn more about how you feel about your system. As a member of the Totara Community, we’d love to learn what it is that you like about your site and what you’d like to improve. We actively use your feedback to see where we can improve Totara Learn so if you can spare a couple of minutes please do share your thoughts with us. Take the Totara Learn 2020 feedback survey. (P.s. you can still take our Help documentation survey too!)

User tours database

When you first log into the Totara Community, you might notice that you are given a user tour that explains what the different sections of the site do (if you want to see it again, select ‘Reset user tour on this page’ in the footer on the Community homepage). If you like the way that works then did you know that you can add user tours to your system too to help orientate your users? We’ve started building a database with a collection of user tours that are available to download. If you’ve written a user tour that you’d like to share with others in the Community then you can also upload that to the database too. We look forward to seeing your tours!

New database course

As we’re using databases in the Community it’s only fair that we go into more detail about how to use them on your Totara Learn sites. So we’ve built a course on it! If you’re looking to build out a set of resources or a Frequently Asked Question page on your system, then one way of achieving this could be through using the database activity. Databases can effectively be used as a collaborative knowledge base, with learners rating and commenting on each other’s contributions, or you can simply use a database as a resource allowing learners to explore information in a structured way. Learn more about using the database activity in our new course which focuses on:

  • Planning how your database will look and function
  • Effectively creating templates for the different database views
  • Best practice guidelines for making your databases intuitive and user friendly
