Hide activity untill other activity

Hide activity untill other activity

I am developing a course in which I made activities such as pages, books, quizzes, ... I only want to make these activities visible once they have done the previous activity.

With the help of access I can restrict the access, but the course is too overwhelming now because they can see all the activities.

Suppose I want to make activity 2 visible only after completing activity 1. How do I do this?

I also differentiated the exercises according to their cognitive level. For this purpose I made two groups: ACV1 and ACV2. While testing, I notice that a student from group ACV1 still sees the activities for ACV2. That is not the intention either. How do I solve this?

Hi Inge

If you go into the activity and go to the Restrict access condition there should be an eye icon with  Hide and Show

If you Hide the restriction then this shouldn't be visible to the learner.

Hi Inge,

Looks like you're implementing some fantastic adaptive learning here - nice work!

Craig is right, that little eye icon is the trick here.  You might also consider dividing content into multiple topics/sections which can also have access restrictions applied - just to simplify the interface for you and your learners.

I ran a webinar a while back on Creating an adaptive learning experience where you might find some other tricks and tips as well.

Keep up the great work :)

Meredith

Thank you Craig and Meredith for the tips! When I implement the learning activities with the restricted access and closed eye, it doesn't work. The sections open from section till section (so that works well) but a learner can click on every activity within the section.

I will look at your webinar on adaptive learning to figure out what I do wrong.
If I can't find it I come back ;-)

Hi Inge

Hiding a section should mean that the activities within the section are also not able to be viewed by learners,

Are you logged in as a learner rather than a role such as editing trainer who is able to add activities to a course?

I have the same question about restricting to groups but the activity still being visible to other groups.  Were you able to resolve this?  The other responses here seem to be related to your grade question.

I have continued my testing and found the solution.  The activity restriction has a further visibility option next to each restriction.  Toggling the eye will make the restricted activity visible or not if a user does not meet the conditions.
