Course Completion

I am attempting to create a report that filters predetermined courses (mandatory courses that I would like my employees to partake). With this report, I would like to be able to generate a graph, displaying the different stats per employee, showing their respective percentages for completion.

For example: I have started and completed mandatory course 1 out of 2. I have done half of this course. The graph will display my name, the course name, and a 50%.

Is this possible?

Hi Equan,

It's probably possible - Totara is designed to adapt to your reporting needs!

It depends mostly on the 'different stats per employee' you're trying to display.  It sounds to me like the 'Record of Learning: Courses' report source would be a good basis for what you want to create. You can create a new report using this source, edit the existing Record of Learning report or (and this is the option I recommend), take a copy/clone of the RoL report and then edit from there.

Record of Learning report

To restrict the data to for each user, go to the Content tab when editing and ensure 'Show records based on user' is selected.  You'll also need to allow Access to Learners or Authenticated Users.

In terms of graphing statistics, remember with the graphing tool, you need numerical data (counts, sums, averages, grade etc). Data already reported in percentages (like Progress %) is often already visualised so can't be added to this report as a graphing data point.  Remember also to check your 'Aggregation of grouping' option against each column of your report.

If you haven't done so already, I'd check out the help docs on reports- https://help.totaralearning.com/display/TH12/Report+builder and the Academy content on reporting is excellent (plus we have both v12 and v13 covered!)

Cheers,
Meredith

PS - If you manage to create something super pretty, we'd love to see it!  If you can share without exposing any user data, the team here are always excited to see what our users create :)

Thank you! This got me started on a good path. My question now would be, how would I go about only allowing this report to track certain courses? As it stands, it tracks every course that the audience members are currently enrolled/completed. I am only wanting to track mandatory training that our supervisor has instructed us to complete, so it would vary and need to be updated at times.

Hi Equan,

I think the most efficient way to do this would be to just use Course Title filters in the report.

cheers,

George.

I was able to add courses to my audience, which I was unaware of earlier! Is there any other avenues you may advise that may work better?

Hi Equan,

Could you tell us a little more about what you want to do?

cheers,

George.

Hello George,

I am attempting to be able to track students completion on specific courses. In our organization, there are mandatory training coruses that each student must complete. We want a report that only tracks these specific courses, without needing any filter. As it stands now, I am able to filter, but this defeats the purpose as we do not want to even have the option to see everything.
