Order of courses in the grid catalogue

Hi all,

Can anyone let me know how the order in which courses are displayed in the grid catalogue is achieved?

The order I determine through "Manage courses" doesn't have any influence. They are also not ordered by the Course ID.

Is there any way I can influence the order that the courses are displayed in?

Hi Lena

Sorting in the catalog is limited when multiple languages are enabled see this documentation for an explanation why and configuration options 

The catalogue can be sorted and displayed in variety of ways: through the configure catalogue settings

  • In Alphabetical order
  • By the most recently added items (Latest)
  • With Featured Learning items listed first (where Featured Learning has been enabled)
  • By Relevance (available after a text search term has been entered)

Hi Craig, I looked at this documentation:

that outlines what you have written above but I cannot seem to figure out where you actually control the sorting by either alphabetical order or through the latest course.

Please advise.

Hi Lisa

If you have multiple languages enabled then the sorting will not be able to be done - sorting appears in the search bar dropdown box

With the sorting turned off when multiple languages are installed the order of the courses is in the order below (highest precedence first).

  • If the catalogue text search is active then sorting is by result relevance
  • If Featured learning is enabled (the latest featured item will appear first in the results, and the latest non-featured item will appear just after all the featured items
  • Otherwise, sorting is by the latest item first

Thank you Craig, so there is not an area where you can select the default view alphabetically if you're using the featured learning. Correct?
