When, for instance the dates of a seminar are changed, anotification is sent to the learner. This notification contains an iCalendar.
The problem is that in many casdes where the seminar exists of multiple sessions, Outlook (or Exchange) does not always accept the iCal. You get the following attachment in the mail: not supported calendar message.ics
This seems to happend quite often in our environment. The reason is, that Outlook does not support iCalendars with recurring sessions when the recurrence definition is not supported by Outlook.
This makes the iCalendar function actually quite annoying, because many learners receive a notification with a useless iCalandar.
A solution might be to change the setting so that a mail is being sent for every single session. But we also have seminars with many sessions, that can get rescheduled.
So: does any one know a good solution?
- Is there a way to suppress notifications being sent with an iCalendar altogether?
- Or is there a solution to the iCalendar functiona itself?
