Phased program assignment

Phased program assignment

Hello,

We have about 6 cohorts that start at various times throughout the year for a residency program.  There are about 7 programs that are assigned, 1 program each week of the residency.  The same programs are assigned to each cohort.

Does anyone have a creative way that we could assign all 7 programs at once to each cohort when they start, but have a phased visibility or access to the programs each week?

Example:

Cohort 1 starts March 1.
All 7 programs are assigned to cohort 1 at the same time.
Program A visible to learners in Week 1
Program B visible to learners in Week 2
Program C visible to learners in Week 3

Cohort 2 starts April 1
The same 7 programs are assigned to cohort 2.
Program A visible to learners in Week 1
Program B visible in Week 2
etc.

I know I can create separate programs/courses for each cohort, but not ideal.

Audience availablity dates do not work, because the block we are using on the learner's dashboard ignores the dates and shows the learner the program is assigned, even if the audience availability date is enable and has not arrived yet.

Program availability date works, but if we make that date March 1, then Cohort 2 will also have access Mar 1 instead of April 1.

I am willing to use courses instead of programs for these assignments, but I haven't found a way to do it in courses either.  I am willing to use a dashboard or an additional block or category for these courses or programs.  I am open to ideas.  Anyone have any?

Hi Jacque

Activity restrictions allow topics or activities to be restricted to members of an audience and also by date ranges and allows restrictions sets to be built

You could user several courses and enrol users in an audience with cohort 1 users and restrict access to the content and have another topic in the same course restricted to cohort 2 and another date.

The course completion could be based on meeting a course grade if they are graded activities or marking yourself complete if not.
