Hiding Courses in Catalog

Hi,

Our instance has a number of courses that are no longer active. They have been hidden from users, but I'd love to be able to filter them out by default (or at least place them at the end of the list) when viewing the course catalog as an admin. Is there any way to do so?

Thanks in advance!

(currently running Totara 15, looking into updates to 18)

Hi Kerri

By Default hidden courses shouldn't be visible to users without an admin role that has the show hidden courses permission prevented including learners and authenticated user roles,

Can you check what role the user has and check the role has the hidden course permission prevented

Hi Kerri

I've seen Totara explain how do this on a video somewhere, but now can't find it.

You basically create a custom field called 'Archived' or 'Hidden' or whatever you want under Site administration / Courses / Custom fields. This will show in your edit settings page.

Tick this (or however you set it up) for each of the courses you want to hide. Then on the Tile Catalogue page, make sure the filter is also ticked to exclude the courses, and then click the 'Share' button. Use this URL for your catalogue. You can set the default to whatever you want, and also easily change the results by ticking or unticking the options.
