The setting should create an instance after 4 weeks of creating the previous instance . The first instance was created on 2 April and completed on 19 April
On the 19 April the check would be triggered to check if 4 weeks since 2 April has been reached . The 4 weeks hasn't been reached until 30 May so would expect the new instance to be created on this date or 1 May depending on time zones and cron timing.
Are you or your partner able to create a support ticket for this as the dates of creation are the expected values.

Does 4 weeks mean 28 days? We find it extremely difficult to make the timing correct for our performance activities instances to create. The first ones were created at the beggining of each month but later the timeframe for the new istances creation seems to be not consistent, for example 9th September (I would expect it to be around 6th taking into consideration that there might be one day difference) and 13th November (I would expect this instance to be created around 16th).

The days for 4 weeks should mean 28 days - sometimes months are different lengths but not weeks.
If you can create a ticket with all the settings for the performance activity including settings such as auto creation based on role changes as these will affect the creation of instances too .

Dear Craig, Thank you for responding. I will create another ticket regarding the creation dates of the instances. One last question- we have Monthly Talks in our comnpany and we would like appraisal instances to be created at a fixed time during the month, let us say every 5th day of the month. Given the scheduling options that we have in the Performance Management- is ithis feasible? From what I can see we can only set next instances to be created every x days or weeks after a specific event, which is not accurate enough taking into consideration different number of days in different month and the fact that users may join the assigned audience at any day during the month which creates the performance instance for them right away..

That is correct the options for performance activity instance creation is days and weeks so a fixed monthly creation is not currently possible.
I can't see any feature request for this so would be good if you can suggest a new feature detailing the use case and the problems this would help solve.
