Hello,

I am looking to see whether it is possible to customise notifications for assignment submissions so that only the allocated marker receives an email alert.

Context:

Our assignments have multiple markers/graders who each have a selection of learners allocated to them.

Ideal requirement:

Each marker receives an email notification when their allocated students submit

What we are currently experiencing:

Notifications for submissions are received by all markers/graders in the course along with anyone else in the course who has a level of permission higher than this.

From exploring the various forums, I haven't been able to see a solution for this but wondered if anyone had any suggestions of a resolution or a work-around.

Hi Adam

Are you using separate groups for the assignment activity and allocate markers(trainers) for each group . You will also need to adjust the trainer role permission (moodle/site:accessallgroups to Not set so the trainer is not able to access other groups they are not a member of..

In theory this will mean that trainers can only access the group that they are a member of for marking and notifications will only be sent to the group trainer- I haven't tested this works but thinking it should.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

We have tried grouping with no success unfortunately. At present, this is what we are experiencing:

1) Learners are allocated a marker (there are several markers in a course)

2) Learners submit assignments

3) ALL markers and editing trainers within the course receive a submission notification indiscriminately (regardless of whether they are the allocated marker or not).

This is causing us problems as we have hundreds of learners allocated to approximately 10 markers and they are not able to easily track when students submit. This is not as much of an issue for standard submissions as they manually check after the submission deadline. However, we have re-submissions which happen outside of the traditional marking timelines. For this, it would be really useful for a marker to receive notifications only when their allocated students re-submit as they need to respond and mark quickly.
