The underlying architecture has been built in a way to support different large language models (LLMs) in additional to OpenAI. We cover this in the help docs here: https://totara.help/docs/ai-features-faqs#can-ai-features-be-used-with-a-customers-own-llm. While Totara offers a built-in integration with OpenAI, with Totara Partner support, customers can also choose to link AI features to their own LLM setup. This will take additional development effort.
However, Microsoft 365 Copilot is not a large language model (LLM) so it is not something that can be integrated with to power features like what Totara provides.
If your organisation has Microsoft 365 Copilot approved but not OpenAI, we recommend seeking internal approval for the use of OpenAI’s API within Totara’s controlled implementation. This ensures you can make full use of Totara’s AI features while maintaining compliance with your organisation’s governance and security requirements.
