Advice Needed – Text Navigation Block for Dashboard Content
par Azeez Sa, Friday 10 October 2025, 01:02

Hi there,

I’m looking for a block that can display text in smaller chunks. I have a large document that feeds into a dashboard, but I don’t want all the text visible at once, as it would overwhelm users.

I’d like users to read the content section by section, with Next and Back buttons for navigation.

I’ve tried different blocks but haven’t found one that works for this.
Can anyone advise on the best option?

Thanks.

Hi Azeez

This sounds like what the book activity does by organising content into chapters and subchapters with navigation provided between chapters, A link to this on a HTML block could be added The user would be need to enrolled in the course - if it was a front page course then everyone would be enrolled on this so have access to activities in the course.

Another possibility is to embed the content in the block using the editor and use the content reader such as Adobe or Word to allow navigation to content. Note embedding of pdf files is prevented by default as there is some security risks

Another possibility is to create a resource and share with users in the audience that accesses the dashboard. The resource would be searchable in the catalogue
