I see that the totara code sniffer is still using 3.9.0 and already the latest release from the "PHPCSStandards/PHP_CodeSniffer" has come in the late 2025 (4.0.1). When does totara will upgrade the codesniffer to this latest release.
Can you please share some light on the road map on codesniffer would be helpful.

Apologies for the late reply, we've pushed an update to https://github.com/totara/code-sniffer (2.0.0) which works with codesniffer 4.0.1 now. The general plan is we update when we have need to or there is demand, but the minimum time would be with each major release (so we make sure it works against the major).
