We recommend keeping this setting enabled in reports to avoid the report records needing to load before having the chance to apply filters.

Not all reports get configured in the same way with saved searches or the requirement to apply a designated filter before running the report.

If restrict initial display is removed and a person navigates to the report they have to wait for the report to run and display the data before they can apply filters and/or run any other reports.

This might not be an issue for a report with relatively small numbers of records, but if it is a report with many hundreds (or even thousands) of records it might take some time for the system to generate and display the records.
