Locking filters on a report

Locking filters on a report

Hi folks. I have created a report to show all users compliance with a specific certification. I want to share this report with the subject expert/trainers so have created a saved search which limits the report to the appropriate certification. However when they access the report they have the option to change the certification filter. Is there anyway to 'lock' the filters on a report so that this functionality is removed?

I'm not aware of any way to lock the filter. The best I could suggest is "hiding" that filter by making it advanced. That way a user would need to use the 'more' link to see it.

You could also add in the report description the purpose of the report and to not change any filters.

I raised a similar query recently with the Totara Helpdesk, and there doesn't appear to be a way to restrict this. The only options available to do this would be:

  1. Set up a scheduled report to send them on a regular basis so they just receive the filter results attached to the email. This is the approach we currently use with our Mandatory Training Subject Experts and have done so for a number of years.

  2. Put the report on a dashboard and using CSS code remove the option View Full Report from the report table block so they can only see what is visible on the dashboard.

I agree though, an ability to 'lockdown' the search criteria on a report would be a great addition.

Kind regards

Sue
