Reflect
This course is all about onboarding, so it’s likely your organisation is onboarding new starters. But before you think of the best way to onboard, think about your experiences of being onboarded to a new organisation.
How did it feel when you started a new job? What did you enjoy about being onboarded? How could your experience have been improved? What did you feel was missing from your own onboarding experiences?
Now think about these questions:
What makes a good onboarding experience?
How can a good onboarding process help new starters?
What is the impact across an organisation when onboarding is done badly?
Make some notes of your thoughts. If you are willing to, please share your thoughts in the onboarding workspace.
This course
Starting a job in a new organisation can be both an exciting and stressful time for any new employee. Making sure anyone new joining your organisation feels both welcomed and confident that they can deliver their best work requires a great onboarding experience.
With Totara, you’ll be able to standardise and automate the experience for new starters to ensure individuals are engaged immediately and that they’re not missing out on any valuable information. You can also create personalised learning journeys based on an individual’s role to ensure any new user gets a targeted onboarding experience.
As part of the onboarding experience you can also add new employees into your continuous professional development program to ensure that their initial targets are clear. You’ll also be able to set up a career pathway for an individual to ensure that once they’ve had a great start, they’ll continue to thrive for years to come in your organisation.
In this course you’ll look at:
- Examples of how organisations are currently onboarding their new starters
- Totara features you could use when setting up your own onboarding program
At the end of this course you’ll be asked to put what you’ve learnt into practice by taking a short quiz. Once you’ve passed the quiz you’ll earn a course badge.
