I have setup an assignment activity with the setting "Attempts reopened - Automatically until pass"

The problem is that when I fail the first submission of an assignment the status does not change to "Reopened" so student cannot resubmit. I have to edit/save the grade twice in the grade book before the status changes to reopened. I have been able to reproduce this issue on my production and test installation of totara v2.6. I do not have this problem in Moodle v2.8

Am I doing something wrong ?
