In v2.6 onwards there is an enhnaced catalog feature that allows various filters for course reports to be configured http://help.totaralms.com/Configuring_the_Enhanced_Catalogue.htm 

In 2,5 there is an embedded report Find Courses that can be modified - this has a filter for Content that can be used to select courses by content type. Use sitename/course/find,php to see this report
