Viewing attachments once an appraisal has been Completed
di ? ? - Wednesday, 15 October 2014, 23:40

Once a user has completed an appraisal and goes back in to view the submitted information, they are unable to view any attachments unless they get the 'Sorry, the requested file could not be found' (see attached).

Users with 'totara/appraisal:manageappraisals' allowed  can see attachments.

Is there a setting which will allow users to see their own attachments with our giving them this additional access?

Hi Dan,

If you try to create the PDF logged in as any Authenticated User, are you able to create a new PDF and view it? There is not a specific capability attached to viewing the PDF; if the Authenticated User has the capability to View own appraisals then they have permission to create/view the PDFs as well.

If you continue receiving that error accessing new PDFs, please contact your partner company to put in a helpdesk ticket on your behalf.

Thanks,

Lori

Hi Lori,

The attachment was loaded directly into the appraisal via a file upload content type.  This is the actual file that can no longer be viewed once the appraisal is submitted.  The view as pdf works as expected.

I would have thought that the view own appraisal would also include the content contained in the appraisal.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks

Daniel

Sorry Dan, I misunderstood that you were looking at file attachments to the appraisal, not a PDF version of the appraisal.

Please send this information on to your partner so that they can submit a helpdesk ticket. A quick test on my local 2.6 site allowed a user to access attachments with no issue.

Thanks,

Lori

Thanks Lori,

I raised the issue with my partner and they have told me that it is a problem with Totara core (users can't see the attachments without the totara/appraisal:manageappraisals permission. This would mean I need to change the core code to make this work.

I am running 2.5.18.  Is this a bug that was fixed in 2.6?  Are there any plans to fix it 2.5?

Thanks heaps

Daniel

To update, I testing this exact same scenario on 2.6 and the exact same issue presented.  I needed to give manage appraisal access in order for the uploaded attached file to be viewable.

It was an out of the box install so no changes.

Hi Dan,

The forums are not an official product support channel and we cannot investigate further without a helpdesk ticket.

I have contacted your Totara Solutions Partner and they will be in touch to investigate the issue further and raise a support ticket with Totara if required.
