Map Positions and Manager to LDAP

Hi,

We are using LDAP (MS Active Directory) as the authentication source and to fill in all the profile fields.

Is there anyway to get Totara to lift the "manager" "position" "role" etc from the LDAP directory the way it lifts name, address etc.

Would really love an easy way to do this, its driving us crazy manually updating everyone's manager.

Thanks!

Hi Aditya

This patch looks as though it might be useful - Totara doesn't officially support this but may be offer some technical assistance in adapting this.

http://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-10908

Are the manager and positions already existing in the hierarchies - if they are then there is a plugin that syncs exsiting positions and organisations https://totara.community/mod/data/edit.php?d=28&rid=97&sesskey=ptcAFIexEe

Hi Chad

Sorry Chad  the file is in the partners forum database at

https://totara.community/file.php/12/moddata/forum/51/1102/dbpositions.zip

unfortunately Subscribers won't be able to access this file - I can make this available on request with the proviso that it may require some customisation by Partners to get to work for a subscribers situation.

Hi Craig,

May we also get access to this file?  It would aid our research greatly as we are exploring similar options.  Thanks!

Regards,

John

Hi John

OK here is the file for you to have a look at to see if it is suitable.

There is a README.txt file included that gives a bit of detail on how it works.
Note that it can only be used to sync to existing positions and organisations, the
hierarchies themselves must already exist.

The plugin is accessed through the interface via Courses > Enrollments > External Database (Position Assignments).

Edit: I've updated this post with the correct version of the file
Edit 2: I've updated the file again, with a new version that fixes a couple of bugs (19/04/11)
Edit 3: And another version, which fixes some MSSQL specific issues (20/04/11)
