You are right, we decided to aviod potential problems with currency formats, symbols and delimiters and switched that field to free text. Now users can input their session costs in whatever format they want.

This fix was originally for Totara 2.4, but I already asked one of our developers to backport it to 2.2 as well. Unfortunately, we just did 2.2.21 release which means that the next one will be only in 4 weeks. If you would like to have the patch earlier, please let me know and we will make sure to provide it for you.
