Following beta release of Totara Social earlier this month, I'm pleased to announce the release of Totara Social 1.0.0 today!

This release introduces a number of changes, improvements, and fixes over the beta release.

Web UI changes:

  • Navigation changes:
    • Simplified menu navigation
    • Main menu now consists of two categories (Contribute and Connect)
    • User data export/import was moved under user settings menu
    • Pages are now available under Contribute menu option
    • Status updates were removed from the main navigation
  • New Groups and People interface
  • Responsive theme improvements
  • SVG icons improvements
  • Improved navigation between index and content items

New features:

  • Added support for non-drag/drop moving of files and folders
  • Added upgrade notifications to admin page
  • Added "Get started" side block for new users

Improvements:

  • Improved file management in Internet Explorer 9
  • Added more content to "Contributions" block
  • Improved user activity notifications
  • Various localisation support improvements

Hi Austen,
Via your Totara Partner. It gets even better. We are not charging a subscription fee for piloting or trialing Totara Social between now and 31st March 2015. Of course we expect Totara Partners will need to pass on some costs for setting up a trial.

From 1 April 2015 subscription pricing is the same as Totara LMS although if it is the second Totara platform registered to a subscriber we will offer a 25% discount on the smaller of the two subscriptions.

N.B - All free trials will still need to be registered as a subscription in order for support to be provided.

A demo site is underway. We are taking a low key "soft launch" approach to gather market feedback and have decided to get the product out as soon as possible while other activities are still in progress.
