Quick way to record past course completion

Hi

Version: Totara 10

Is there an activity (not face to face) that their Course Owners/Facilitators find easy to use to record past completions?

At the moment a Course Owner might receive notification that someone completed a course in the past and they have to create a session, add the person and then take attendance. This is quite an onerous process. We're trying to get people to want to be Course Owners/Facilitators on top of their BAU and this process of recording completion isn't really a draw card.

I've looked into the manual completion by a Course Owner or Facilitator, but this only records the date they tick them as complete and they can't amend this to record a past date. (Course Owners and Facilitators can't access the Course Completion Editor so amending dates this way isn't an option).

Help :)

Hi Lise

Each course activity has recognition of prior learning (RPL) associated with it.

If you go to Course Administration > Reports > Course completion you will get the following interface that allows you to mark activities and course complete with RPL and add a comment.

Thanks Craig. But the problem with RPL is that the date the course is completed is the date the RPL box is ticked (unless there's a way to edit this). So when it comes to reporting the completion date doesn't represent the true date of completion, which in come cases could be months before the RPL box is ticked. this in-turn affects certifications.

Any other suggestions? :)

Hi Lise

There is also a course completion editor where you can edit the course completion record including the date. You can access this from the screen above (the edit column with the cog icon)

It is also possible to upload course completions
