Course reporting

Hi All,

I am having trouble getting the reporting I need as most of the reports are user centric while I need a course centric report.

I would like to build a report that will tell me the following

  • Course name
  • Number of enrolments
  • Number of course completions
  • Number of Activity completions within each course
  • Number of users that accessed the course in a given date range

I would like to be able to filter this data by role i.e view only learners or trainers etc and by audience.

Is this possible with the report builder.

Many thanks

James

Hi James

There isn't a single report source that will provide all this information.

There is a report source 'course by organisation' that provides statistics on completions, progress and a date filter.

The number of activities completed is included in the Record of Learning: Courses report .

It is possible to aggregate columns in report sources this allows counts and calculations for  numeric values - see https://help.totaralearning.com/display/TL110/Creating+Reports for details on how to do this. There are also some training resources in Totara Academy

As a follow up. Is there a way to "hard code a filter" into a report.

For instance. If I wanted to supply the report you showed above to certain users returning the results for only one category can I do that without the need for the users to filter the results themselves.

Thanks

James

Sorry me again,

I am having trouble find the column for "The number of activities completed" in the Record of Learning: Courses report source.

Could I a little more help please?

Thanks

James

Hi James

The activity completion based progress bars were introduced in version 10 so if you have an earlier version then these wont be available directly in the report.

The features in each version are listed in the help site Comparing Totara Learn versions

To get the information about activity completion there is a course report Course admin > Reports > Course completion or activity completion that are able to be exported to a spreadsheet . This report is only available at a course level unfortunately so each course will need to be exported and added to the spreadsheet.

You can also use the Site Logs report, but then you have to do lots of clean-up to get down to the activity completion level; rather than run a report from each course. I would like to submit a request for a report that does more easily report on activity completion. Students ask for it and our curriculum team uses it for planning.
