Manager/Trainer complete course for user

Hi,

I am looking for a way that a manager or trainer (I can give the designated person editing trainer course access if required) can mark a user as compliant in a certification so have been thinking about how to use course activities and then the course would complete the certification.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can do this that doesn't involve a F2F activity. The reason I don't want to use a F2F is that the training could happen at any point in the year so I don't want to keep adding sessions on an ad hoc basis.

I have been looking at the checklist activity as I can see that a teacher can mark the activity complete but can't work out how you add users to allow the teacher to mark the completion.

Or if anyone has any better ways to do this I'm open to suggestions.

Hi Carl

Good news - there is a permission Mark staff course as complete in programs that also applies to Certifications.

The default staff manager role should have this already allowed . To see this in action login as the manager and go to the Team menu and Records link and Certifications tab.

Select the Certification and there should be a Mark complete box that you can tick besides the courses.

There is also a permission to Mark a course in a program completed via a user's Required learning

Hi Craig,

Thanks for the reply. We had looked at this option but I have removed the permission from managers as some were marking appraisals compliant this way (we have a certification for appraisal) and not using the appraisal module.

Can the permission be added per certification or is it a site wide permission?

If not have you any other ideas?

It is possible to apply permissions at a program/certification level - I tried this but unfortunately the mark staff complete is not one on the permissions that is available at the program level.

There is a permission to Add Course completion status block and Add a new program completion block that could possibly be used to assign the manager role to.
