Hi Kevin

This standard improves the consistency of  international Unicode characters in software applications.

The latest Unicode packages are downloadable from http://site.icu-project.org/download - the site also explains this a bit more.

Hi Craig,

I downloaded this file from the web.

icu4c-63_1-Ubuntu-18.04-x64.tgz
13.7 MBUbuntu Linux (x86-64-bit)

I then transfer the files to my Linux server. Unzip at my Linux server and still my server build still say check on the UI. What am I suppose to do with files. Move the files into a certain directory. My Ubuntu version I am running on is listed below.

Distributor ID: Ubuntu

Description:    Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS

Release:        16.04

Codename:       xenial

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi Kevin

I will ask our development team how to use this downloaded file  - the ICU help files talks about building code with ICU but this sounds a lot of work so think there must be some other way around this.

Hi Kevin

The development team think that you should be able to continue installing this as it will not block the installation.

The only thing affected (that we know of) is that word boundary detection may not work properly for Japanese and Chinese.

It is a known issue on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, and there is no easy workaround.
