Editing a question in a quiz once a test subject has taken it

When I have a test subject take a quiz in the development instance and then try to edit the questions, it tells me that I am unable to edit the quiz since someone has taken it. I was told that I had to unenroll the user that had taken the quiz and then clear the quiz results for that user. It works to do it that way, but I am wondering if there is an easier way to do it.

Hi Karen,

You are correct there are limits in editing a question once it has been taken. I'm not aware of another way to work around that limitation aside from what you've described.

I am curious to hear if other folks have found different workarounds that they like?

Cheers,

Wes

Hi Karen

A way to do this without unenrolling users is to delete all of the attempts for the quiz - by going into Grades and Selecting the quiz

Once all the attempts are deleted then you should be able to edit the quiz.

Another way is to reset the course from the course admin block. This can reset all activity for all enrolled people making it useful for testing.
