Best practice for time scheduled learning ?

Hello @ community,

one of our customers wants an onboarding program for new employees.

Every three months (time interval) a new learning activity/course should be offered to new members of its staff.

This should happen for one year (4 sets)

In Totara there are different approaches feasible:

  • by minimum enrollment time in a course as completion criteria (before the next course ist available)
  • by audiences with time based rulesets
  • by different programs every three months
  • others  .... ?

Has anyone of you already set up something like this successfuly, and is willing to share their experience here, please?

Best regards

Thomas

Hi Thomas

I think that the course completion criteria of Users must remain enrolled for 120 days should mean that the course can't be completed until this date.

If the next course in the program requires this course to be completed then this should work (this course would need the 120 days) the problem I see is that the person is not enrolled in the course in the program until they press enrol in the course and they may not do this (a course set completed message could be used for this)

Hi Craig,

thank you for your thoughts on that and your fast reply.

I will solve the enrollement by dynamic audiences with its rules and auto enrollment for the following course.
