We're importing historical records into our system through the use of course completion upload, Everything seems to be working. Except for cases where a user then goes back into the course for another attempt.
The reattempt never completes, even though the user has completed all of the requirements for that attempt. As a result, the system only shows the last RPL attempt in their Record of learning.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Here I go, answering my own question (that happens a lot after I post to any forum).
Apparently the course completions have to be archived before a user can attempt to take the course through Totara. That really doesn't make sense to me.
I would think the system would auto archive once the user has either started a new attempt or has confirmed that they wish to make another attempt at the course. That would keep it in line with the interpretation impression I got from the v11 docs in terms of attempts maintenance. (not specifically RPL).
It could also be my lack of experience, and I accept that my knowledge is limited in a lot of things Totara... except HR Import...
Also, can the documentation for the Upload Course Completion tool be updated to suggest that archiving of RPL records be done before any user attempts the course that has had completions applied in that manner?
Also, is it possible to archive a single user? I'm only seeing that it will do all users in a course? Thinking ahead if we have to run RPL imports again on any course. Or perhaps there is an option in the works through Comipletion Editor to do a bulk update that would move RPL records to historical, without clearing attempts that are already in progress?

Totara has certifications where the same course is completed periodically - the old course is archived when the course has to be done again rather than when it is reattempted
It isn't possible to move a current completion record to a historic record with the course completion editor or through the upload completion records. We do have a feature request TL-21232 for this.
If the user is unenrolled form the course It is possible to delete their current completion record in the course completion editor and the record can be uploaded to the historic completion if required.
