Hi all,

We have configured an online course for all of our LMS help documentation (QRGs, online videos, support contacts) etc. and have added this as an item on the learning dashboard.

The issue we are having however is that if we assign it to all of our employees it displays under MyLearning which we want to avoid.

Is there a way to provide access to a course without requiring the user to be enrolled?

Appreciate any ideas you may have!

Hi Bianca

One option is to create a course that allows guest access and then provide a link from the menu , block , front page to the course or individual activities.

Another option is to add the content to the frontpage  this is accessible to all users and can include blocks and activities that you require.

Regards

Hi Craig,

I'm unable to add Guest access at the site level; it's not a listed plugin. Is this licensed separately?

I have added the content on the front page as a quick link with the URL directing the user to the course but this prompts them to enrol which I am trying to avoid. The other option is to enrol them but then it displays on the MyLearning page..

Any other suggestions?

Hi Bianca

Not sure why this isn't appearing for you .

Guest access is a standard enrolment plugin that should be enabled under Site admin > Plugins > Enrolments > Manage enrol plugins.

The front page is a course that everyone is 'enrolled' in. The other course requires enrolling in if it hasn't got guest enrolment allowed

Hopefully this will let you get closer to what you want.

Hi Craig,

I will enquire as to why I don’t have access to this plugin.

Could you elaborate on the second option? How would I have a course that everyone is enrolled in but does not display on the MyLearning page. Could you provide more specific instructions?

Thanks, Bianca

Hi Bianca

The Frontpage is by default accessible to all authenticated user and allows course activities and blocks to be added. This doesn't show in the My learning as the users aren't enrolled in the course through the enrolment plugin but have access to the course. This is why I had enrolled in quotation marks.

There is more information on the front page  settings and options in the link.

Thanks Craig, I've had a look but I believe this option only allows me to add an activity, not a course that contains multiple activities and resources.

Please let me know if I'm wrong.

Hi Bianca

There should be an option to add more than one activity or resource on the frontpage - is this option appearing for you?
