Recurring Program

I have set up a new program containing 5 courses (SCORM) - the completion records for the courses was imported. We have over 6000 enrolments in the program with varying stages of completion. The program needs to be completed within one month of starting employment. It then needs to be completed on a yearly basis after that.

I have just been informed that this should have been set up as a certificate to enable recurring. Is there an easy way to convert the current program to a certificate without any disruption.

Thanks

Hi Peter,

Its not possible to convert a Program to a Certification, but I think a decent workaround would be to keep the initial Program and create a Certification for the subsequent yearly iterations.

You could create a Dynamic audience with a Program completion rule; the users complete the initial program and then are assigned to the Cert.

This avoids having to disable/delete the program and therefore avoids any messy records in the user's Record of Learning.

Let us know what you think,

cheers,

George.

Hello George,

Thanks for your response. That sounds like a very good solution. Can you tell me as we have a number of courses in the original program and they may be completed on different dates. Is there a way to notify the user that they are required to do the course again dependent on the date that the course has been complete. The only solution that I have at the moment is to place each course into their own certificate which seems a little untidy.

Thanks again for your advice. It has been very helpful.

Hi Peter,

Certification & Program completions are based on sets of courses, a set comprises one or more courses. Sets can have basic logical operators between them - THEN, OR, AND, this means you can order the sequence in which the sets and therefore courses can be completed by the Learner, but the certification itself will only complete when all the necessary sets have been too; the only way to use one course to determine when the certification is complete would be to have it own its own in the last or only set.

Its possible to use a 'COURSE SET COMPLETED MESSAGE' to notify learners about set completion, but this could be a different date from the recertification date depending on how you've set things up.

Basically Certifications iterate on one date, based on course set completion.

Hope this is useful - let us know if you've any further queries.

cheers,

George.
