Creating new themes - bug with configuring blocks on dashboard

Hi everyone,

We created new themes with the instructions on this page: https://help.totaralearning.com/display/DEV/Creating+a+Theme

Now we noticed that when an admin user (who has the permission to edit the dashboard and blocks) has one of those new themes selected in his profile, he can't configure the blocks on the dashboards. When we change the theme to basis, this problem doesn't occur. We always got a ‘502 bad gateway’ error in that new theme.

We already checked with our hosting partner and they said the problem would probably be a bug in Totara. The helpdesk suggested we made a post in the community.

Can anyone help us with this problem? Does anybody have the same problem or know what is the cause of this problem?

Kind regards,

Anouk Goossens

Hi Anouk,

Our helpdesk responded to you on the 12th of June.

Our dev team advised the error is coming from a local plugin: profiletheme, on line 30 of /local/profiletheme/settings.php: call to admin_category->add().

On the ticket we say:

It would be worth asking your technical team to take a look at the file as mentioned above. As far as I am aware, there is nothing installed in the 'local' folder by default and this is not mentioned in the theme documentation, so the assumption at the moment is there is some conflict with this plugin and the theme.

Can you speak to your technical team and keep us posted on how it goes?'

cheers,

George.
