Hello,
I am going to take the Competency Course in the Academy next week, so I apologize if this is covered in the course. Would like to know two important things as we consider enabling competencies.
1. We need approximately 2000 employees to have the ability to mark any other employee competent and complete the competency (there is no organizational hierarchy to connect who checks off another person).
2. Each of our competencies is made up of one or more standards that must be checked off in order for the competency to be marked complete. I am not sure if this would be accomplished with frameworks or parent items. Either way, the problem we have is that in some cases we need the standard which may appear in more than one competency to be marked complete in all competencies where it exists. Other times not.
For example, if one of the standards was "Completes CPR course" and that standard exists in both a Nursing competency AND a Safety competency, the user completes the course and it is marked complete in both competencies. That's great. But, we might have another standard that is "Identifies location of fire extinguisher", and that standard is part of multiple department specific competencies. We would NOT want that standard to be checked off for all department competencies when completed in one. Would this just require us to create separate standards for each department---'identifies location of fire extinguisher in PICU," or is there another way to do it?
Thank you for your patience with these questions.
