Hi,

We are running workshops on a course where attending some of them will be considered grounds for having completed the course.

But the only options under course completion is for All or Any, there doesn't appear to be a middle ground.

Is it possible to base completion on the attendance at some of the workshops?

Thanks,

Larry

Hi all,

A colleague sent me this as a possible solution.

"one answer to your question is to use the Gradebook to determine Course Completion, and use a Gradebook calculation to work out a total course grade.

Seminars report a Grade value of 0 = no show, 50% partially attended, and 100% full attended. Via Grade Calculations you can construct Excel like formulas such as;

  • max([[item1]], [[item2]]...): Returns the maximum value in a list of arguments.

Which is useful if completing any activity can successfully complete the course - but is the same as the All/Any option.

These calculations can be nested so you could have must get a grade of X in a set of activities, and then max[of the sub-set of activities that you need to have completed].

There is way more information at:  https://docs.moodle.org/39/en/Grade_calculations"
