Scorm version in completion reporting

Hi guys,

Is there a way to include Scorm file version information as part of course completion reports? We have some compliance modules that may need to be updated from time to time with a change to version numbers. We would want to be able to pull a report that includes what version of the course was completed. Ideally we would want to be able to pull a report for a learner and it shows all the versions of the course that the learner completed (without needing to add a new course page each time the module gets updated).

Is this possible or any thoughts or workarounds that you have used?

Hi Clive

There is a report source SCORM in the Report builder that can be used to provide information on SCORM's

There is a column 'SCO Title' that could be used to record the version of the SCORM

Are you replacing the SCORM file in the same activity or creating a new activity and hiding the other activity?

Thanks Craig, that's handy to know!

I was thinking that I would hide the old SCORM activity and add a new activity for the new version (I think I heard in that recommendation in one of the Totara Academy videos). Is that the best approach?

That makes sense - you keep the completion records & you have an audit trail, the new learners get the new material.

Thanks for the input Craig! If I use the SCORM as the source for the report will I still have access to the fields that would be available when course completion is used as the report source? It seems like I need a hybrid report source ie course completion and SCORM so that I can pull a report that shows what course was completed when and what version of the SCORM activity was completed.

Hi Clive

Unfortunately the SCORM Title field is only available at an activity level report and not at the Course completion report level.

A hybrid report could be created by exporting the activity and course level report to a spreadsheet and using a LOOKUP formula in the spreadsheet to populate fields from the other spreadsheet.
