Does anyone know the maximum file size for scheduled reports?
We have a report that is running to around 10 gig so want to break it down into a number of smaller reports.
We've not tested it but we are assuming there are limits to how big the files can be when scheduling reports in Totara so they can be emailed.
With that in mind, can provide guidance on the maximum file size we should be aiming for?

i don't think there is a hard limit on report size - there are various limits on memory and processing time in PHP, web server and database level.
10 Gb sounds huge - are there graphics in the report as that is a lot of characters to read.

Thanks for your quick response. Yes we thought so but don't have a feel for what the normal file size range is.
We don't have graphics just a lot of records which the customer wants to export to their master data base on a weekly basis.
We can chunk it down by filtering it into geographic regions and complete / Not completed and creating a series of smaller scheduled reports but need to know what a sensible file size range so we can decide the best way to filter.
We have noted that using CSV rather than excel speeds up the processing time.
Any further thoughts on what a sensible file size should be for scheduled reports ?

Are there limits on the email server that prevent large email attachments ?
There are also file size limits in Excel too of 2GB
It probably requires experimentation with your system, if you aim for 1Gb this would be manageable.

Limits for excel? Can you elaborate about what specifically the 2gb limit with Excel and Totara is?

The limit to 2 Gb is on Excel files - If Totara generates an Excel file in excess of 2 Gb possibly from a report then Excel would not be able to open this.
is this limit likely to affect you in some circumstances - if so then saving as csv file will reduce the file size and still be able to open in Excel
