Competency reports

Hi,

Working with competencies in Perform we are seeing a need in reports to be able to have

  1. Competence data per person in a row. Today each competence rating is in a single row, for an easier overview there is a need for one row per user and columns with each competence rating (one by the user, one by the manager and so on).

  2. Aggregating data for competencies. For example managers and HR it is interesting to look at the whole company or departments collected competencies. Today we haven’t find a way to aggregate an overview of competencies. The need here is to see how many has a certain rating in a competence. Perhaps one competence per row and columns with the number of individuals in each rating.

Are there any way today to do something as or close to this? If not, is improved reporting of competencies in the roadmap for Perform?

Hi Jonas.
In reply.  The management view of performance is a priority.  So I am looking at use cases for this now.

Can you explain more about the purpose for this view.  Are you meaning as a manager or reviewer of some sort?  So the use case is "I want to see ratings at a glance across 'my' users.

The result being that I can see a grid of ratings with raters on the X axis and users on the Y axis and so can compare raters rated all my users?

The idea that the 'view point' moves up and down through the hierarchy is sensible.  As a metric I see average as the most relevant (so it rolls up and down).

Your thoughts are appreciated

Thanks

Thanks for getting back Phil.

In general, we would like to know more about any plans related to report sources based upon Perform data, to be able to support both staff managers and HR with relevant data and dashboards. In our view, the current reporting options seem very limited, and also not taking advantage of the potential in the report builder and the dashboard features in Totara TXP.

More specifically regarding what we mentioned above, the use case could be for a staff manager to see the whole team and/or underlying teams in one page. It could also be for an admin/HR-specialist/competence development manager to see the whole organization or selected departments.

As a staff manager/HR-specialist I would like to see relevant data for selected organizational departments regarding competencies so I know the organizational gaps and can plan for future competence development and/or recruitment.

One solution (of course there are others) might be having one row in a report per competence and a column for each  scale value with the number of users with that rating in each cell. And by that being able to see potential gaps and need of competence development for the selected group (ex organization, role and so on).

The most preferred solution could be to have a separate page, similar to the existing competence profile page, but for organizational overview, a dashboard with graphs and data for the manager and HR-departments being able to view the current state for the organizational competencies and plan for action to fill the gaps.

Hi Jonas.

Thanks.  I completely agree.  This is a real gap, something I'm actively working on now.  I'll be in touch when I have some design to validate with partners.

Hi Phil,

Is possible yet? I'd like to be able to see the average rating per competency.
